As with all families one is interested in ones past, where does one come from, what is ones roots, as many of you know I have always joked about "Where are you really from?". I have always been interested in my family and its roots and coming from a multi cultural background this becomes varied and very storied.
Since moving to India I have been exploring more of my background and have decided to embark on a new personal project to explore my family and its roots. Its a story of two islands (UK and Mauritius) but involves many migrations and journeys,including my own.
Its a long journey, I will be sharing thoughts and photographs as I go, both taken and collected. I start this week in Mauritius - visiting with my paternal family and will continue this year in India. Travelling to Pondicherry where my Great Grand Father was born and left for Mauritius around 1877.
There's a long list of places to travel to, family to meet and conflicts to resolve. Its an adventure to say the least and a very personal journey, I hope you enjoy the journey and join me for it, and maybe even be inspired to look into your own.
